Suggested wording for a bequest:

Designation

The property comprising this gift is intended to...

  1. further the purposes of Baylor College of Medicine.
  2. provide scholarship/s for deserving Baylor College of Medicine students.
  3. provide support for the (School / Department) of __________________.
  4. establish a (chair / professorship / fellowship / scholarship) in the (School / Department) of __________________.
  5. (establish / add to) the (name) Endowment Fund (chair / professorship / fellowship / scholarship) in the (School / Department). (See endowment fund criteria, below.)

  • Professorship: $1,000,000
  • Career Development Chair: $1,000,000
  • Chair: $2,000,000
  • Presidential Chair: $4,000,000
  • Laboratory*: $5–10,000,000
  • Academic Department/Divisions*: $10–25,000,000
  • Centers*: $10–75,000,000

The minimum level to establish a separate named endowment fund is $25,000. Contributions at any level may be added to established endowments.

The donor’s wishes with respect to the administration of endowed gifts are normally set forth in a separate agreement called an Endowment Fund Agreement.
